The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Paris hosted a meeting with Jean-Antoine Duprat, a leading expert of the European Institute for Security Perspectives and Studies

At the meeting, the head of the delegation, Mr Pardaev, expressed his opinion on the democratic reforms underway in Uzbekistan, support for civil society institutions and the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and France. He also emphasized the need to bring Uzbek and French civil society institutions to a new level of cooperation as a result of the visit of our head of state to France.

The French expert highlighted the large-scale reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years and their results. In particular, democratic reforms, liberalization and changes in lawmaking were positively assessed. Information was also provided on French experience in legislative processes, constitutional reforms and a number of other topics. Notably, the expert emphasized that Uzbekistan's effective multi-vector foreign policy is conducted correctly and with a long-term vision in today's highly complex geopolitical processes.

Another important point was that against the backdrop of ongoing conflicts in the world, Uzbekistan's pragmatic and ‘neutral’ foreign policy was able to achieve results that serve as an example for many other countries, while the development of friendly relations with neighbouring countries has increased Uzbekistan's position in regional foreign policy. At the same time, the expert suggested that Central Asian countries should take an example from the European Union in pursuing regional policy.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to continue the fruitful dialogue, strengthen cooperation on democratization, lawmaking and other issues.
