Roundtable Discussion on “Topical Issues in Implementing the Tasks Outlined in the Pre-Election Programs of Political Parties and Addressing Voter Concerns”

The Khorezm Regional Branch of the Center for the Analysis of Democratic Processes, in cooperation with the Khorezm Regional Council of the “Adolat” Social Democratic Party, organized a roundtable discussion on the topic: “Topical Issues in Implementing the Tasks Outlined in the Pre-Election Programs of Political Parties and Addressing Voter Concerns: Problems, Causes, and Solutions.”

The event was attended by staff of the Khorezm Regional Branch of the Center for the Analysis of Democratic Processes, representatives of the regional council of the “Adolat” party, heads of the party’s deputy groups in regional and district (city) councils of people’s deputies, as well as media representatives.

During the discussion, it was noted that in recent years, political parties, local councils, and party groups have been consistently carrying out practical work aimed at promoting socio-economic development in the regions, ensuring public oversight of executive authorities, and addressing issues that concern the population.

In particular, within the framework of implementing the priority tasks defined in the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy, participants discussed ways to strengthen the role of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis and political parties, establish electronic communication with voters, send and monitor deputy inquiries electronically, turn local representative bodies into the true “voice of the people,” ensure public participation in the activities of local councils, and promote broader engagement of civil society institutions and digitalization.

It was also emphasized that starting from 2024, at the city and regional levels, and from 2026, at the district and city levels, the position of the chairperson of local councils will be separated from the powers of the khokims (governors), which will help ensure the independence of local representative bodies.

Participants noted that extensive coverage of the activities of local councils in the media and social networks plays a crucial role in strengthening transparency and enhancing public oversight.

The event featured an active exchange of views on ensuring the implementation of legislation, effective public oversight, and the further activation of the work of political parties and deputy groups. Participants were also informed about the objectives, areas of activity, and future cooperation directions of the Center for the Analysis of Democratic Processes.

At the conclusion of the roundtable, relevant proposals and recommendations were developed to support the activities of political parties, local council deputies, and party groups, as well as to increase their effectiveness.

The event was marked by lively discussions and question-and-answer sessions. Participants received detailed responses from experts to all their inquiries.
