Regional anti-corruption councils will be headed by the chairmen of regional Kengashes of People's Deputies

Corruption is an obstacle to the development of the state and society, leads to the violation of human rights and freedoms, the fight against it has been a pressing problem in all eras.
At a meeting of the National Anti-Corruption Council chaired by the Head of State, the work carried out in this direction was critically analyzed and the tasks that need to be implemented in this direction were identified.
Now the composition of the regional anti-corruption councils will be completely renewed, and they will be headed by the chairmen of the regional Kengashes of people's deputies. This means that the role and responsibility of deputies, who act as a link between the state and the people, in the fight against corruption will increase significantly, and this topic will become one of the main areas of their activity. Regional councils need to go to the individual level, identify the factors causing corruption, ways to eliminate them and what laws need to be changed.
As the Head of our state noted, given that currently 75% of corruption crimes are committed at the level of districts and neighborhoods in the form of everyday corruption, this poses a number of tasks for the newly formed regional councils.
In particular, it is necessary to jointly assess the level of corruption in the regions, economic sectors and other sectors with civil society institutions, conduct an in-depth study of the state of anti-corruption work in the regions, strengthen the immunity of young people to corruption, strengthen propaganda work on preventing and combating corruption in schools, professional colleges and universities, continue improving the system of conducting "Anti-corruption expertise" in the implementation of the "Sphere without Corruption" program and investment projects in the regions, increase the number of sociological surveys on the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures with the participation of the population at the local level and the creation of opportunities for establishing a direct dialogue with the population. In this regard, it is necessary to strengthen the interaction of regional councils with competent authorities and organizations to combat corruption. Because the development and implementation of measures to increase legal awareness and legal culture of the population, the formation of an irreconcilable attitude towards corruption in society depends on mutual cooperation. Independent monitoring in this area will also allow regional councils to study the tendency towards corruption in each sector, identify the factors that create the ground for it, and provide useful initiatives for amending the current legislation taking into account the specifics of the region to eliminate such situations.
Of course, in fulfilling these tasks, it is important to strengthen public control, further intensify the activities of the media and civil society institutions in the fight against corruption, and, as our President put it, to create an open system and an open environment for the media to bring the problem of corruption in society to public discussion, and most importantly, to strengthen the interaction of regional councils with local public control bodies and ensure their consensus. Moreover, the fight against corruption requires an uncompromising attitude towards it from every member of society.
The recommendations and instructions given by our President at the extended meeting on the eradication of corruption place great responsibility on each of us. Regional council officials will need to define their future plans with a deep understanding of this responsibility.
