The activities of party groups and their legal basis were discussed in Fergana.

The role of people's representative bodies in implementing democratic transformations in society and ensuring the effective functioning of civil society institutions is invaluable. In particular, the active participation of political forces through party groups in local councils is important for solving regional problems, ensuring the implementation of laws on the ground, and protecting the interests of voters.
To this end, the Ferghana regional branch of the Centre for the Analysis of Democratic Processes, together with the regional council of people's deputies and the regional councils of political parties, organised a round table on "The activity of party groups in the councils of people's deputies and its legal basis".


The event was attended by members of the Centre's regional territorial division, party groups of local councils, staff of regional councils of political parties, and media representatives.
During the roundtable, the participants exchanged views on the legal basis for the activities of party groups in local councils, their powers and responsibilities, as well as practical experience. Mechanisms for addressing socio-economic issues on the ground through party groups, studying the requests and needs of voters, and putting forward legislative initiatives were discussed.
The experts also expressed their opinion on the importance of the activities of party groups in increasing the effectiveness of local representative bodies of power, their role in strengthening public control, and ensuring a constructive dialogue between political forces. In particular, information was provided on international experience and best practices of party groups in developed democracies. In particular, lively discussions were held on effective participation in local self-governance through party groups and innovative approaches used to shape public opinion.
At the event, information was presented about the Kutilgan Fursat project, which is implemented by the Centre and is aimed at collecting and communicating to the general public ideas for achieving the 100 goals and mechanisms for their implementation included in the ‘Uzbekistan - 2030’ strategy. Detailed information was provided on the main objective of the project and the activities carried out under the project, their social significance and expected results.
This event will contribute to strengthening the dialogue between people's representative bodies and political parties, improving the legal literacy of party groups, and further enhancing the effectiveness of their activities.
