Further strengthening of co-operation between civil society institutions in Uzbekistan and France

A round table was organized in Paris with the participation of the Uzbek delegation and representatives of French civil society organizations. The round table was opened by Uzbekistan's Ambassador to France Nodir Ganiev, who stressed that Uzbek President Sh. Mirziyoyev's state visit to France on 13-14 March this year had brought cooperation between the two countries to a new level and turned them into strategic partners.

The head of the Uzbek delegation, deputy of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, head of the Center for Analysis of Democratic Processes A. Pardaev also supported the ambassador's view and acknowledged that the first summit "Central Asia-European Union" held in Samarkand gave a great impetus to the development of cooperation with French civil society institutions. It was also noted that as a result of democratic reforms implemented in Uzbekistan over the past 8 years, representatives of civil society institutions are actively involved in solving pressing problems of society, developing proposals, implementing public control, touching upon the tasks of developing civil society institutions within the framework of the strategy "Uzbekistan-2030".

In the course of informal communication following the round table, the members of the delegation agreed to establish cooperation with representatives of a number of NGOs and think tanks, as well as experts in order to promote the results of the comprehensive democratic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, exchange information, and build capacity in the areas of open and innovative governance, civic communication and dialogue with society.
