Digital technologies play an important role on the path to a sustainable future.

As previously reported , a delegation from Uzbekistan, consisting of representatives of a number of non-governmental non-profit organizations and civil society institutions, is participating in the annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Milan.

The civil society session of the 58th ADB Annual Meeting on “Digital Technologies: Pathways to a Sustainable Future” discussed issues of addressing environmental issues through digital innovation, stimulating public activity, and strengthening social equality.

Antonio Zaballos, ADB Director for Digital Technologies, Climate Change, and Sustainable Development:
Digital technologies are becoming a powerful tool for reaching the most remote segments of society. It is through innovation that we can build a sustainable future.

Max Cuvele Giacomelli, GSMA Mobile for Development Foundation:
Mobile technologies are not just a means of communication, but a platform of opportunity. Digital tools can quickly help people even in dangerous times and provide them with access to education and health services.

The session also brought together representatives of civil society organizations from countries such as Samoa, Nepal, and Turkey, who shared their experiences and discussed how communities are using digital tools to combat climate change.

Representatives of the Uzbek delegation exchanged views with ADB Social Development Expert Malika Shagazatova on joint monitoring of labor protection and prevention of violence against women in Uzbekistan. It was especially emphasized that ADB will pursue an active policy in this area from 2026. Prospects for implementing projects aimed at supporting women in difficult life situations were also discussed.
